Title: The Final Sunset
Author: Sweetness (aaronlisa@gmail.com)
Pairing: Willow/Xander interaction
Rating: FR13
Disclaimer: The Buffyverse belongs to Joss Whedon and company.
Notes: Written for au100 for prompt #32 (sunset). What if Xander hadn’t been able to stop Willow in “Grave” (BTVS S.06e22)?
Xander knew that he was already too late by the time he reached the bluff. All he could do was watch in awe and terror as Willow brought about the end of the world. If he had been told that one day his precious Willow would raise the statue of a long, forgotten goddess so that she could destroy the world because of all the pain, Xander would have laughed. The Willow that he had known and loved for his whole life was full of life and goodness. He wouldn’t say that the Willow he was watching now was full of evil; instead she was full of pain, rage and vengeance. She was dark in comparison to the Willow that he knew and loved. As she collapsed to the ground, all of her magic drained from her into the effigy of the goddess, he managed to crawl to her. He held her as they watched the sun make its final descent as the world fell apart around them.
