            Before she had found out that she was a Slayer, Faith had only possessed a vague understanding of the word destiny. After the fateful night when she learnt about destiny, she soon learned to hate that word. Faith wasn’t impressed by the knowledge that she was the one girl in all the world to hold back the forces of darkness. Her Watcher was upset that Faith seemed bitter about her destiny and she had refused to accept that it was a hard and bitter pill for someone to accept that it was her duty to protect people who had rejected her. Things had only gotten worse for Faith when she found out that she wasn’t the only girl in the world with her destiny and duty. Buffy was everything that Faith wasn’t and the brunette vowed that she would be in charge of her own destiny, rather than letting a bunch of stuffy old men in England run her life. So she put on a different face in front of Buffy and her friends and she acted like being a Slayer was nothing but fun for her. And she hid her bitterness and fear from the others and herself and she started to believe her lie that her destiny wasn’t a burden and that it was fun.
