Notes: Written for joss100 for prompt #9 (love). Set during ATS Season Four.
There are some people that are too easy to read for me, even if they don’t sing a single note for me. Faith was one of those people; I could read her the minute she sauntered into the Hyperion. I couldn’t tell you her destiny, but I knew it was great. She was destined to do great things, which side she did them for was completely up to her. It wasn’t like Angel who I knew would do great things for good as long as he managed to hold onto his soul (Why gypsies would punish a vampire with a detachable soul that could lead to the resurrection of a psycho like Angelus is beyond me.)
I could tell that Faith needed love and it just broke my heart when I looked at her. Angel and the others had never told me why the Slayer was in hail but I knew as I listened to her. She had done what she had done for love. Or more accurately to have someone give her love. I had to wonder if the person who did give her that love was sincere. I silently offered up a prayer to whatever deity that’d that listen to me that the person who she’d gone evil for had been sincere with their love. I could only hope that the girl would find someone else to give her that love so that the future wouldn’t be short one more fighter on our side. But it was more than just a case of we needed her on our side and she needed love. Well, she definitely needed love. But there was something about Faith that called to me and made me wonder if our circumstances had been different if I could have been the one to give her that love. And perhaps she could have returned the favour.
