Notes: Written for goddess_loki  who wanted this pairing and the colour cornflower blue. Set during Season Five.

 

            They had met for coffee so that they could catch up on things, since they were usually too rushed to do that at the crime lab.  She was usually busy by the time that he came on shift, so they had started weekly coffee meetings. As he watched her sit down and smooth out her cornflower blue dress, he was glad that they had. For too long, his life had been about his career leaving no time for a personal life. And although his retirement was still another decade or more away, he felt the negative aspects of his single-minded focus more than ever before. And Catherine was someone he could not only relate to, but someone he could connect to outside of the crime lab. She was someone that he could like and appreciate, and he wanted to ensure that their friendship was strong enough to endure beyond the crime lab.

Yay! Justice has been done to one of my favorite ships. I would really love to see another drabble of just one of their conversations. This would make an awesome set-up fic for something like that.
