There's probably only going to be three more chapters of this fic, I can see the end now and don't really want to prolong it. Anyhow, enjoy!
Title: To Fix Broken Things 12/?
Author: Sweetness (aaronlisa@gmail.com)
Pairing: Willow/Spike/Xander
Rating: PG-15
Disclaimer: Joss Whedon and company own the Buffyverse.
Notes: Written for velvetwhip who wanted to see this pairing set shortly after Willow returned from England at the beginning of Season Seven. For the sake of the story, The First isn’t driving Spike insane.
As he lay there in the darkness and listened to the even breathing of his two companions, he was amazed. William the Bloody had found the one thing that he had spent most of his human life and then his undead life searching for: acceptance and love. It wasn’t as if Drusilla hadn’t loved him, he knew now that she had loved him in her own way. But he had always had to live in the shadow of Angelus, and he knew that she always compared him to the older vampire. Spike knew that he couldn’t compare to Angelus, even when he had tried. The two vampires were as different as night and day were different. And then his dark princess had left him, and it wasn’t for betraying Angelus, instead it was for being too human. A hundred years of living the life of a vampire and underneath it all he was still searching for the things that had mattered when he was a weak mortal. He had returned to Sunnydale to prove her wrong and instead he had found himself ensnared by his lost humanity. First by the chip that the Initiative had planted in his head to prevent him from hurting humans, and then by his strange lust for Buffy. And in the end she had even rejected him because she couldn’t see him as anything but a despicable creature that was dark and evil. How little she really knew him. And then he had been given a soul and he returned to Sunnydale, hoping to show her how wrong she was. And instead, he had found himself drawn to Willow and Xander. The only two humans, beside Dawn and Joyce, in Sunnydale that knew he was a vampire and saw him as more than just an evil, filthy creature of the night.
He sighed as Willow shifted in her sleep and curled against him. He noticed how Xander snuggled deeper into her embrace and came closer to him. When he had first met the brunette, he had always seen him in terms of an annoying brat who was friends with the Slayer. Someone to take down to torment the Slayer. Later he had seen him as an annoying young man who was the voice of reason and morality in their little group, and the person that he most wanted to destroy, maim and kill if he ever got the chip removed. Now, he respected him for who he was and he recognized the desire he had had for the young man throughout the years.
And then there was Willow. Similar to his first reaction to Xander, he had only been concerned with her because of her relationship with the Slayer. It hadn’t been until he came back and had tried to force her to perform a love spell that he had finally noticed her. But he had always thought that she would look at him in disgust for being a demon. Instead she had quietly accepted him, just as she had Angel, but he had been blind to her acceptance. He had ignored it and had instead focused on the brightness that was Buffy. And he had wasted time being used and using, when he could have been wrapped tight in her arms. Perhaps the time hadn’t been right in the last year or so, but he still regretted wasting them. And now he was going to make up for lost time. Especially since he felt like he had finally found his way home in their arms.
