FIC: Older & Far Away 4/4, S/W, PG-13
There is a really high possibility that I will write a sequel to this fic. I am not sure right now. Anyhow it's done. Enjoy.
I'd like to dedicate this part to both velvetwhip and
lilbrek who have given me so much confidence in their feedback and praise for this fic. I hope that this lives up to the rest of it.
Title: Older & Far Away 4/4
Author: Sweetness (aaronlisa@gmail.com)
Pairing: Spike/Willow
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: The Buffyverse belongs to Joss Whedon and company.
Notes: Written for lilbrek . Set about five years after the events in “Not Fade Away.”
Willow collapsed onto the couch in exhaustion as various images replayed themselves in her mind. They had managed to perform the spell and stop the ritual from happening. Willow had thought that it would be a complicated process, but it had been very simple. Simple but violent. Willow had never really known what had happened up on the platform, so she had followed Spike’s lead. She had had to teleport them up to the top of the platform mere seconds after the Spike of that night had been pushed off it. She then watched in horror as he efficiently broke the neck of the demon that had been responsible for starting the ritual. Then they had gotten Dawn off the platform, which had been dangerously swaying in the wind. Spike had taken Dawn to the Tara and Willow of that night, while she had completed the spell to return them to their proper time. By the time it was done, she was confused and exhausted. Before she could analyze anything she had passed out.

Willow slowly came to consciousness and as she did so she called out for Spike. She wasn’t quite why she had done so, but it felt like the right thing to do.
“Right here, luv,” Spike’s voice came from her left. Willow opened her eyes at the sound of his voice and found herself in a strange bedroom. She looked around for a few brief seconds at the unfamiliar surroundings.
“Where are we?”
”Home.”
“But..”
”In Sunnydale. You were successful.”
“What happened?”
“Well Buffy defeated Glory and lived. Dawn is still around since the monks were completely destroyed and there was no one to protect her. So there’s no First terrorizing us all. You found a way to resoul Angel without the curse last year when Angelus was on the loose.”
“Oh, so everything is good?”
”As good as it can be living in the Slayer’s town and on a Hellmouth.”
“It just seems so weird. I can still remember clearly what happened before.”
“It’ll fade until it seems like a dream.”
“Did that happen to you?”
”Yeah but quicker.”
“So why are you in my room?”
”Who said it’s your room, pet?” Spike asked mischievously.
“Then whose room is it?”
“Ours.”
“What?”
“Well it turns out that Buffy sacrificing herself caused a lot of strange things to happen,” Spike said as he sat down on the bed beside her.
“Like what?” Willow nervously asked.
“Well turns out that someone helped me realize the error of my ways in lusting after Buffy after the big fight with Glory.”
“Who was that?”
“Tara.”
”What?”
”Turns out that Tara thought that you and I would make a good couple.”
”Why?” Willow asked with a hurt tone that she was unable to hide from him.
“It’s not what you think, luv. She loved you like mad, but she was sick and she knew it. And she wanted to make sure you would be happy.”
“Sick?”
“Yeah, cancer. Turns out she had had it before she left her family. It was in remission but it came back during the summer.”
“Oh,” Willow replied as tears formed in her eyes, “So I guess it was never meant to be forever for her and me.”
“It’s alright, luv,” Spike said as he gathered her up in his arms and held her.
They stayed like that for a while as she cried for her lost love. Finally Willow stopped crying against his chest. She pulled back from him and looked up at him.
“I suppose it’s foolish of me to cry like this.”
”It isn’t. I can understand your pain.”
“I guess, I didn’t try to end the world this time?”
”No, luv, but you did give me my soul. And ever since we defeated Glory, you’ve been a very strong and powerful witch. In fact, Giles sent you to the coven in England to help you harness your powers.”
”Your soul?”
”Yeah, I asked for it, pet. The Pouf wasn’t too pleased but I did it for you.”
”Oh.”
”Willow, I’m not going to rush you into anything. Just because I have all these memories, doesn’t mean I don’t realize that you’re not ready yet. Anyhow you’ve been through a lot, why don’t you get some more sleep?”
”Okay.”
Spike started to get up to leave the room but he was stopped when she pulled on his sleeve. He looked down at her and his heart broke at the sight of her tear stained face.
“Stay,” Willow pleaded with him.
“Of course, pet.”
He smiled as he lay down beside her. It was a good start and he would take what she was willing to give him. He had the feeling that she would probably continue to remember things differently since she had been the one to cast the spell. But he was confident enough that he would be able to win her affections. After all, in his memories of this new time that they had created together, he had managed to win them. Spike moved onto his side and was satisfied when she snuggled up closer to him. He knew that it would only be a matter of time.

Please don't take what I said as a flame! I'm not trying to be critical, because there's a lot to like about this fic.
