Notes: Set post-Chosen.
Summary: Giles has been asked to speak at Career Day.
Giles had thought that he knew what he was getting into when he had agreed to speak at Career Day, however as he cleared his throat, tugged at his tie and wished that he had his glasses to polish, he couldn’t help but wonder if he really knew what he was doing. He turned to look at the teacher expectantly and all she did was smile reassuringly at him. When he turned to face the children again, he started to feel faint at the sight of their eager and expectant faces. He knew that Buffy had told him that the children wouldn’t bite or anything like that, but he suddenly wished that he were in a room full of vampires who hadn’t eaten in a fortnight, at least then he’d know what to do.
As he scanned the room once again, he saw his son sitting at the back looking at his father with his wide and innocent eyes and Giles knew that he could do this. He had to or else his son would be sure to tell his mother. And the one thing that Giles did not want to face was an angry Buffy when he got home. That was far worse than a group of children who wanted to know what a Watcher was.
“Alright then, who here has heard of a Slayer?” Giles asked.
He was pleased to see all of the hands go up and he smiled at the class before continuing.
“Well I am a Watcher, it is my duty to guide and teach a Slayer so that she can survive to do her duty and protect the world.”
