Notes: Set during BtVS Season Three.
Summary: Instead of acting rashly, Angelus has a plan this time around.
He watched her from the shadows as she threw a punch at the girl that had once lost him his soul and he silently crowed with delight as Buffy stumbled from the force of the punch. This time before he made any grandiose plans, he would ensure that Buffy Summers and her merry band of do-gooders wouldn’t try to curse him with the soul. And Faith would be his weapon against Buffy and her pathetic Watcher and friends. All of the loose ends from their former lives would be neatly tied up and then he would rule Sunnydale with Faith at his side. This time around he would be smart before he let power rush to his head. The last time he had been freed from the soul, he had reached too far and too quickly and it had allowed Buffy to stop him. This time there would be no stopping, and definitely not from Buffy.
Faith delivered a roundhouse kick to the side of Buffy’s head and Angelus smirked as the blonde fell to the ground. Just as they had planned, Faith said something cryptic about the Mayor, something that Willow would easily decipher, before she ran to the shadows and threw herself into Angelus’ waiting arms. Before they got rid of Buffy for good, he knew that the Mayor would have to be taken out of the equation and as much as it pained him to admit it, Buffy was more than capable of doing that. So for a little while longer, he’d keep her around and pretend that he still had a soul. Once the Mayor was taken care of, then he’d finally take Buffy’s life and blood from her, but until then he’d enjoy using her as a pawn.
