Title: A Hunter’s Life
Author:

Rating: FR13
Pairing/Characters: Dean Winchester
Disclaimer: Supernatural belongs to Eric Kripke and company.
Prompts: life/death at

Notes: Set before “Pilot”
Summary: Dean knows that Sam had to leave.
Dean never once regretted the fact that he had stayed behind and Sam had left. He had known the minute that his father had put his baby brother in his arms and told him to run that he would do anything to protect him. When they were growing up, it had been natural for Dean to follow their father’s lead and to go into the family business so to speak. And when it had come down to it, Dean truly believed that Sam deserved better than a life on the road where they had nothing but their wits to keep them alive. So when Sam decided to leave, Dean had slipped a couple hundred dollars into his brother’s duffle bag to help start him on his new life. When it came down to it, Dean had just known that Sammy wasn’t suited to the life of a hunter, not with all the resentment and anger inside of him. Dean knew that if Sam didn’t try to have his normal life, then he’d wind up dead before he reached the age of twenty-five.
