”Come on Wolfe, she’s way out of your league.”
”No she’s not.”
”Do you seriously think that you have a chance with Calleigh?”
”Yes I do.”
”You’re delusional,” Delko replied with an easy grin.
”What’s that supposed to mean?” Ryan asked with a slight hint of annoyance in his tone.
”Take a look at Calleigh. She’s one classy lady.”
”And what I am not classy enough for her?”
“Dude, you were sweater vests.”
”So what is that supposed to mean, Delko?”
”Just that Calleigh’s really stylish and fashionable and you, uh, make some questionable fashion choices,” Delko patiently explained.
“Everything isn’t about fashion,” Ryan said as he slammed his locker door shut.
”No it’s not, but it’s the first thing that people notice about someone.”
”I hardly think that Calleigh is only concerned about what I wear and how trendy it is or isn’t.”
”No she’s probably not, but it’s a very important thing.”
”Whatever, Delko, when I need your tips on dating and fashion, I’ll be sure to ask for them.”
”Good luck, man,” Delko said before he walked out of the locker room with a laugh, just as Calleigh was walking in.
”Hey, Ryan,” Calleigh greeted him with a smile.
”Hi Calleigh, I was wondering if you’d like to go out for coffee with me?” Ryan nervously asked.
“Sure, that sounds great,” Calleigh answered as she gave him a bright smile, which helped to dispel some of the fears that Delko had raised. “Let me just get my purse.”
