Cordelia took one look at the Senior Partners’ latest lackey and she resisted the urge to laugh at the young woman’s vanity. Perhaps if they had sent someone like Lilah Morgan, Cordelia might have actually felt intimidated enough to listen to the dire warnings and vague threats from the Senior Partners. But where Lilah Morgan had been a coldhearted bitch, Eve just wasn’t scary or intimidating. Instead she looked more like a puffed up peacock absorbed in her own egotism. Even didn’t even seem to realize that the former members of Angel Investigations had faced far scarier and far more intimidating monsters than a scary little tin goddess.
”Get out of my face, Eve,” Cordelia said as she stalked away from the other woman.
”You had better think over what we’ve just discussed.”
”In your dreams, little girl.”
”I know what you’re here to do and don’t think that I can’t prevent that.”
”You’re nothing but a little girl. And if you’re the last line of defense that the Senior Partners have, then I’d be worried if I was in their shoes, not the other way around. You don’t scare me and you certainly don’t scare the others.”
”I am more powerful than you think.”
”As if,” Cordelia muttered as she continued to walk away from Eve.
