            It wasn’t until his vision was at risk that Ryan actually realized just how much he took it for granted that his eyes worked properly. He had gotten the prescription that Alexx had written out for him and he’d even made the promised appointment, but it still didn’t stop his fear. If he lost his vision in that eye, he could very well lose his job. There was no place in the crime lab or on the force for an one-eyed cop. And when it came down to it, he was terrified of losing his job. All through his childhood, he had known that he had wanted to be a police officer and that he wanted to solve crimes. Even at university when he had taken science courses, he had known that he wanted to be a cop. And now because of a protective stepmother and a nail gun, his life and his career could be over in an instant.
