           As he looked down at his infant son, Angel was reminded of how fragile he was. Both he and his son were vulnerable. Connor more so than Angel, but nonetheless they were still at risk. Anytime that Cordelia had a vision, Angel was putting his life at risk and there was the danger that he would be killed, which made him worry about his son’s future safety. He knew that Cordelia and Wesley would look after Connor but he doubted their ability to protect him from all of the dangers in the world, both natural and unnatural. And there was the crux of the problem: he was forced to find redemption, which put both him and Connor in further danger instead of making them safer. As much as he loved his son and found happiness in him, Angel could never be truly happy while they were still vulnerable.
