Okay I was listening to the song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and got inspired. This not for any of the 100 challenges that I am working on. It's also a completely different style for me. And it's also Faith-centric, it's not really a song fic either. Just read it.

Can't stop addicted to the shin dig

She was full of energy, fire and passion, everything that a Slayer should be full of. But somewhere in between her hometown and Sunnydale, the fire, passion and energy started to become tainted with bitterness. Ill prepared for what it meant to be a Slayer, she was on the run to the only person who could help her. And when she arrived, she was determined not let her weakness show in front of that perfect blond California girl that was Buffy. So she pretended that she was full of energy, fire and passion and that she wasn’t afraid of anything. Least of all her past, which was slowly stalking her from the East Coast.

Choose not a life of imitation

It took her a long time to realize that she didn’t want to be Buffy and that she didn’t want to live Buffy’s life. It took just as long for her to realize that Buffy’s life wasn’t as perfect as it appeared. Buffy had as many flaws as her, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to imitate the blonde Slayer’s life. So she joined up with the Mayor, did some dirty deeds, pretended that none of it hurt, and made do with what she had. She had someone who loved like Giles loved Buffy, even if she had to lie about the fact that the Mayor would sell her out if necessary.

Don't die you know the truth is some do

By the time she had reached LA, she was a mere shadow of the girl she had once been. She was dying on the inside and outside and no one cared, least of all her. She fought and danced, vainly acting out a life that she no longer lived. Then it came to the end, where she was given the choice to die or to follow a new path. She didn’t want to follow a new path, she was too weak but her choice was snatched away at the same time Angel showed her the truth. Death wasn’t a way out, not for her, not for anyone. So she turned herself in, and she lied about her reasons why. She didn’t want to admit it to anyone that she was still running away.

Come and tell me when it's time to

And then Wesley came and got her and it was time to face the truth and to stop running. She finally admitted that she was tired of running away from everything, tired of running in the same spot for years. So she stopped and she let the natural relationship between Watcher and Slayer develop, even it was only for a few hours. It was time for her to face the music and time for her to do her duty. She fought Angelus, faced her demons and by saving Angel she saved herself. When Willow told her of what was happening in Sunnydale, there wasn’t any hesitation when she agreed to go and help Buffy and the others. She was who she was supposed to be.

Can't stop the spirits when they need you

Her demons no longer haunted her, real and imagined. She put them to rest and she followed her new path. She saved those that needed saving. She fought demons and she slayed vampires. She followed her destiny that a bunch of old men chained her to eons before she was ever born.
