Notes: Written for fanfic100  for prompt #59 (food). Set during the first half of BTVS Season Three.

 

            She had just gone to the Summers’ house to find Buffy because there was a new threat on the Hellmouth that Giles wanted them to check out. However, Joyce Summers had taken one look at her and invited her in. At first Faith had been surprised and hesitant but she had accepted the warm invitation despite thinking that Joyce had an ulterior motive. Joyce had led her into the kitchen and started preparing food for the brunette Slayer. The two fell into a companionable silence as Joyce set the prepared food down in front of Faith and the brunette began to eat it. For the first time in her life, she didn’t feel the consistent hunger for something more. Although she knew that the ache of that hunger would undoubtedly return, it was nice to have a temporary reprieve from it. She smiled up at the older woman and for once she felt at peace.
