Pairing: Wesley/Cordelia

Rating: PG-13

Disclaimer: The Buffyverse belongs to Joss Whedon and company.

Notes: Written for the Escape from LA ficathon. Set during Season Three.

Part One

“I’m telling you Cordelia that it’s imperative that we leave LA now,” Wesley said in a panicked tone.
”Ok Wes, but we can’t just take Connor with us and expect Angel to be all cool about it,” Cordelia said with a sigh.
“I don’t really think that Angel’s temper is an issue here, the prophecy clearly states that the father will kill the son. It’s Connor’s life here, that we need to protect.”
”You’re not understanding, Angel will come after us.”
”No he won’t.”
”Wesley…” Cordelia started, “Oh alright, but I want you to know I’m only going because you’re making me.”
”Fine, I understand that, can we leave now?”
”Sure, just let me grab my stuff.”
”Cordelia, there’s no time!”
Before she could respond, Wesley had grabbed her by the wrist and started to pull her out of the office. She watched in silence as he picked up Connor and a bag. She knew that it was important that he have some his ancient books, but she couldn’t help but feel that it was unfair that he would be allowed to bring some of his things but she was unable to. It wasn’t that she didn’t understand his feeling of urgency, but she didn’t believe that Angel would ever kill his son. After all, this was Connor and Angel would willingly sacrifice every one of them so that his son would be protected. But there was something about Wesley’s attitude that made her blindly follow the former Watcher.
They wasted no time as they got into Wesley’s SUV and drove off from the Hyperion. She risked one last look backwards at the hotel that had been such a big part of her life, and she just knew that they wouldn’t be returning. She looked at Connor in the car seat on the back seat and smiled as the baby kicked his feet in the air. Then she slowly turned to face Wesley.
”Trust me, Cordelia, this will be for the best.”
”Alright, but I hope that you’re right.”
