Title: A Ray of Sunshine 1/1

Pairing: Principal Snyder/Mayor Wilkins interaction

Notes: Written for Ragna’s “brightness challenge.” Set just before the start of BTVS Season Three.

            If there was one thing that Snyder hated more than the snotty, undisciplined brats that he was in charge of during the school year, it was the little meetings that the Mayor insisted on having during the summer break. It wasn’t as if the Mayor ever wanted to discuss anything about the school, no it was always about his new vision for Sunnydale. Snyder snorted at the idea of the Mayor’s new vision, it seemed like an awful lot of talk to him instead of something concrete and wonderful.
“Ah, Snyder, old boy, how are you doing today?” Wilkin’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
“Fine.”
            Before the two men could have a serious discussion, the waitress appeared all of a sudden. Snyder shuddered when he heard the Mayor’s order of “one iced tea, no lemon and lots of sugar.” And then the two of them waited until the waitress returned with the sickly sweet iced tea that the Mayor seemed to be favouring as of late.
“Anyhow, I have some excellent and exciting news for you,” Wilkins told him before taking a sip of the iced tea.
“Yes?”
“Yes, its something that I think you’re actually going to like and even enjoy,” Wilkins said as he flashed him a bright smile.
“And what is this news?”
”I thought you’d never ask. I’ve finally found everything that I need to complete my Ascension and my new vision for Sunnydale.”
”That’s wonderful,” Snyder said hastily, hoping that he sounded somewhat excited.
“Oh, but that’s not all.”
”It’s not?” Snyder said, feeling as if he was on a demented informercial.
“No, because I’ve picked Sunnydale High’s graduation day as the day for the great occasion.”
”Really?”
”Yes, really. In fact, I’d like to use the ceremony for my Ascension. I’ll be very hungry when I Ascend.”
”Hungry?” Snyder asked in confusion.
”Yes, and well those crazy kids have been giving us such a hard time so I thought that I’d use them as a lesson. What do you say?”
”Sure, it sounds great,” Snyder replied, still confused as to what the Mayor was talking about.
“”Good, I’ll be seeing you then.”
            As the Mayor walked away, Snyder smiled as the sun finally broke though the clouds that had appeared shortly before the Mayor had arrived. He might be confused but he was exceptionally happy. It might not be the corporeal punishment that he had been wanting to return to the school, but he’d be able to get revenge on the student body of Sunnydale. He wasn’t quite sure what that revenge would entail but the Mayor’s words of using them as a lesson had sent a shiver of happiness along his spine. His students deserved to be made into a lesson in the Mayor’s brand new vision for Sunnydale, after all they had been tormenting him ever since he had first arrived in Sunnydale.
