I feel like I've been harsh on Buffy in my fics as of late, then again I am not a huge fan of Buffy after season four. Anyhow I wrote this fic to rectify that feeling. It's a bit of fluff if anything. Enjoy.
Title: The Council’s Secret Weapon 1/1
Author: Sweetness (aaronlisa@gmail.com)
Pairing: none
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: The Buffyverse belongs to Joss Whedon and company.
Notes: Set during BTVS Season One.
Buffy hated it when she had to patrol with Giles as he always made her work twice as hard as she normally would have had to work. And lately he seemed to really be pushing her even more. She knew that it was probably due to the Master, but she certainly didn’t like it. Especially when she could have been hanging out with Willow and Xander at the Bronze, and possibly even Angel. Buffy looked over at Giles and pouted at him.
“Buffy, for the last time, this is your sacred duty. Innocent lives depend on you.”
”But Giles, my social life depends on me too. And a happy Slayer makes for an effective Slayer.”
“Fine, when we’re done patrolling this cemetery you can go to the Bronze. But you really should be taking this more seriously.”
”Alright, I will,” Buffy said as she bounced up and down.
They continued to patrol the cemetery and were almost finished when Buffy literally stumbled over a vampire. Giles merely moved to the side, while Buffy pulled out her stake and assumed a fighting stance.
“Slayer,” the vampire hissed at her.
“Vampire,” Buffy replied back.
“Prepare to die.”
”That’s so considerate of you to warn me like that You know I am beginning to think that you vamps have a bad rep for no reason. I mean you’re always warning me that you’re gonna kill me.”
“Buffy, please just do your duty,” Giles commented dryly.
“Alright already,” Buffy said as she rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, Buffy, just do your duty,” the vampire said as he ducked one of her punches.
“You know you look so Miami Vice. You should really update your look, otherwise it just screams vampire or pathetic loser.”
“Buffy,” Giles warned while the vampire just grunted.
“Keep your shirt on, Giles. I mean it’s not as if he’s gonna get away.”
”I think I’ve discovered the secret weapon the Watchers’ Council,” the vampire muttered.
“Wait, you know about the Council?”
’All vampires who want to live know about those randy old men and their pet Slayers,” the vampire said lewdly.
“Well you came to my town so obviously you’re not big on living, are ya?”
“Soon it’s going to be the Master’s town, little girl.”
”Who are you calling little girl, oh soon-to-be-dust?”
The vampire didn’t answer her; instead it threw itself onto her stake and imploded into a cloud of dust and ash. Buffy sighed in frustration, as she had never asked him what he had meant by his cryptic remark.
“Giles what do you think he meant by secret weapon?”
”I don’t know.”
“Giles, come on?” Buffy whined.
“Well perhaps he was referring to your incessant chatter.”
”I do not chatter.”
”Well Buffy your conversation with the enemy is highly unorthodox.”
Buffy just rolled her eyes at her Watcher as the two of them continued to walk through the cemetery. She had thought that perhaps Giles would have become used to her unusual ways by now, but it didn’t seem like it to her at that particular moment.
