Sometimes when Cordy looked at Fred, she felt as if she had been given a second chance. A chance to make amends for the way that she had been a snobby bitch in high school. In high school, Cordy wouldn’t have given someone like Fred a chance. And Fred reminded her of Willow: a painfully shy, intelligent, pretty, young woman with so much potential who made Cordy feel like she was less than her. Cordy knew that part of it was because of the way she had been raised. Her parents had always told her that she was better than everyone else and that she was destined for great things. When she looked at Fred, she realized that she wasn’t better than anyone else and that the great things she had been destined for were to be Angel’s Seer. Fred made her realize that for a large portion of her life, she had been shallow and vain, and then she had been resentful of her visions. She had never admitted it to anyone, but she had been resentful of the visions. The visions might help Angel find redemption. And the visions might save countless of innocents from evil’s destruction. They might even give her a chance to find redemption for being a snobby, self-centered bitch that had probably caused more harm than prevented it. But despite all of those reasons, Cordy had resented the visions because she knew that they were slowly killing her. However, all she had to do was look at Fred and see her fragility and then she stopped being resentful of the visions. It was in Fred, that Cordy really found redemption and peace. And as Fred slowly broke through the shell she had erected since escaping Pylea, Cordy was there for her. And when she saw Fred slowly fall in love with both Gunn and Wesley, Cordy didn’t feel any jealousy that Fred didn’t look at her in the same way. She was happy for her and wanted Fred to be happy.
