That they can be. Especially in this particular format. I find that open_on_sunday allows me to explore pairings that I normally wouldn't touch (ie Spuffy), or things that I am interested in but just don't have a lot of time for.

Mind you to be honest I've written one Spuffy-styled fic when I first started out writing.
