When she had had Xander, Cordelia could be herself and not the person that she had pretended to be. She had someone to hold her and someone to chase her inner demons away. Before he had betrayed her, she hadn’t felt alone. Then she had found out that she couldn’t measure up to Willow Rosenberg and the depression sank in. All of her life she had been on the outside looking despite her popularity. Her parents had had her because it was the trendy thing to do, but apart from wanting to appear fashionable they had largely ignored her. She could never measure up and she had always been alone in the crowd of devoted followers who just wanted to standing next to the rich cheerleader. And then Xander had happened and Cordy had started to think that maybe she wouldn’t always be alone, she wiped a tear away as she realized what a fool she had been.
