Notes: Set post-Not Fade Away; this is a sequel to “Remorse.”

The end of the world didn’t happen. Instead they were attacked by a lot of demons until Buffy and her Slayers showed up. Something that Angel hadn’t been expecting to happen. And in many ways he didn’t want it. But it had happened and they world didn’t end. He was now sitting in the Hyperion’s lobby, trying to figure out what to do now that the world hadn’t ended. Buffy had taken control of everything, including the slaying of the dragon. When they had all returned to the hotel, she had stood in front of him and told him that she had chosen Spike over him. He supposed that he was supposed to feel something instead of relief. He acted as if he was upset but too much had happened for him to really care at the moment whether she wanted him or Spike. He had lost too many people to really care whether she wanted to be with him or with Spike. All he felt on the inside was empty. He had lost too much in the last year to care that he was losing something else. He finally sighed and stood up, and made his way to his bed and he collapsed on the bed. He could only hope that his sleep would be devoid on dreams that night.
