Although she had expected to receive a life sentence for her crimes, it still seemed to come as a shock to Faith when she heard the judge’s words. She desperately wanted to atone for her crimes but she wondered how she would if she was locked up in jail. There was no way that she could follow Angel’s path since he had the freedom to use his supernatural powers to hunt out and destroy evil. Faith doubted that there would be monsters in California’s prison system. Even if there was, she knew that she’d only add to her list of crimes if she slayed any potential demons that she came across in prison. As she was escorted out of the courtroom, Faith held her head up despite the feeling that she wanted to flee. If she were supposed to atone in some other, then fate or the Powers That Be, or something would intervene in her sentence. Until then she would server the sentence that she so justly deserved without complaint. She had chosen this path after all.

joss100 for prompt #44 (seasons). Set during BTVS Season Three.
She had never thought that she would get homesick but as winter came and it was still relatively warm, Faith missed home. It didn’t seem like winter without the cold and the snow. The warm sunny weather made it difficult to tell the passage of time, and by the time Christmas rolled around Faith was surprised since it didn’t seem like that much time had passed since she had first arrived in Sunnydale. She spent a lonely and boring day in her cheap motel room and she watched the Christmas specials that she had always watched with her mother. And for once, Faith missed her mother and her home, no matter how unhappy it had been.
