Faith didn’t really like to rely on magic as she found it to be too unreliable when compared to the sheer physical strength of a Slayer. Magic was intangible and seductive and it could always backfire. Yet, she was willing to trust Willow’s ability enough that she allowed the redhead to smear the yellow paste on her forehead in order to find out something about the First. At first she felt silly sitting there in a circle completely nude but for the paste on her forehead. She knew that it was imperative that they find out if the First was still active, despite the battle in Sunnydale. And she knew that the only way that they could find this information out was if one of the Slayers contacted the Shadow Men, and since Buffy was pregnant, it had been decided that Faith would be the one to do the contacting. Willow had come up with the spell and ritual since it would take too much time to get the necessary equipment from England, still Faith felt silly. It didn’t matter that she had faith in the slender redhead in front of her or not, she didn’t believe that they could make contact.
”Faith, relax,” Willow’s command broke through the brunette’s thought.
“But,” Faith stated to say just as Willow pinched her.
“Silence!”
Faith did as she was told, there was only one thing that truly scared her and that was her redhead in a rage, she had only heard a few stories here and there from the others about Willow was capable of and it was enough to frighten her. She took a deep breath and did her best to relax as she listened to the pleasant sound of Willow’s voice chanting in some ancient language that sounded like a bunch of made up words. She found herself starting to become drowsy and as she started to fight it off, she noticed that things were changing. The room that they were in wasn’t the same room that she was used to; instead it was as if the walls were made of pure light and shadow. Faith felt a moment of confusion until she gave herself up to the spell. Before she became completely spellbound, she realized that she should have known better than to doubt her witch when it came to magic.
